Durable
Corian® is a solid, non-porous, homogeneous coating material consisting of ± 1/3 acrylic resin (also known as polymethyl methacrylate or PMMA) and ± 2/3 natural ores. The main mineral is Aluminum trihydrate (TEA) derived from bauxite, an ore from which aluminum is produced. Since its debut in 1967, Corian® has proven to be an extremely durable and life-friendly material. It does not lose its color and effectively withstands the stresses of daily use.
Hygienic
Corian® is a non-porous material with stable properties throughout its thickness internally. In the constructions the parts are joined with invisible seams, thus making it very healthy. Thus the surfaces do not support the growth of bacteria and fungi. It has been certified by independent laboratories as a hygienic material according to the international DIN EN ISO 846.
Non-toxic
Corian® is an inert and non-toxic material. Under normal temperature conditions, it does not emit gases. When burned, it mainly releases carbon oxides and the smoke generated does not contain toxic halogen gases. Due to these properties it is used in public places and in sensitive applications such as airport check-in counters, walls and desktops in hospitals, schools, hotels, etc.
Repairable
Corian® surfaces are refreshed, which means that the look can be completely restored with the usual mild abrasive cleaners and scrubs. Cigarette burns, for example, can be easily removed this way. Damage caused by misuse can usually be repaired on site, without having to completely replace the material.
Homogeneous
In Corian® the color and texture are the same throughout the thickness of the material and do not change. It is a hard material and does not peel.
Invisible Compounds
Corian® applications are unlimited and depend only on imagination. Parts of the material can be glued together invisibly thus giving a uniform appearance to the whole of a structure. So for example, a very long bench can be made in pieces in the laboratory and during installation the joints are invisible. Also important is the possibility, in the profile the edges to show whatever thickness we choose.
Thermally Formable
Corian® can be thermoformed in wooden or metal molds at controlled temperatures to create various designs in 2D and 3D design. Relief effects can also be created using the Bas Relief technique or other advanced technologies.
Translucent
The clarity of Corian® is particularly striking in the lighter colors as well as in the thinner leaves. Many designers now use the material to create lighting fixtures or lighting effects in various applications. The color group, called the Illumination Series, consists of 5 colors in 6 and 12 mm sheets and has enhanced clarity to be used in creating special lighting effects.
Colourful
The refined colors of Corian® compose a creative and inspiring palette for choices of homogeneous colors, translucent and complex in textures and shades. You can choose a color as a basis for designing a construction or a harmonious composition of more colors.
